The bimetallic coins of the China Mint are exquisite masterpieces that showcase the finest technologies which achieve a gold core center surrounded by an outer rim of silver. So unique are these coins, they are not produced elsewhere by any of the other Mints of the world. They are visually extremely appealing, produced in very limited quantities and provide an attractive way of owning modern Chinese coins. Three coin bimetallic panda sets were issued in years 1995, 1996 and 1997 as well as larger ‘5 oz + 2 oz’ (five ounces of gold plus two ounces of silver) in 1995 and 1996. Other noteworthy bimetallic coins include ten yuan, ‘1/10 oz + 1/28 oz’, panda coins from 1992 and 1994 and a dragon and phoenix also in 1994. Few coins have been produced since the 1990’s adding further to their appeal and collectibility.
